In a significant step toward enhancing academic excellence and clinical awareness, the State Autonomous Medical College, Gonda, hosted a one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Saturday in collaboration with Medanta Hospital, Lucknow. The event, centered around two critical medical conditions—Cancer and Stroke—marked the formal commencement of guest lectures by visiting professors at the institution.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, medical officers, and resident doctors and was lauded as a milestone in bridging theoretical knowledge with advanced clinical practices.

The event was inaugurated by the Principal of the medical college, Prof. Dr. Dhananjay Shrikant Kotasthane, who welcomed the visiting experts and highlighted the importance of CME in the evolving landscape of healthcare.

In the first session, Dr. Abhishek Singh, Director of the Medical Oncology Department at Medanta Hospital, Lucknow, presented on the topic “Comprehensive Cancer Care”.
He emphasized that cancer treatment today involves much more than surgery or chemotherapy. “It is an integrated care model,” he explained, “involving early diagnosis, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and palliative support.”
Dr. Singh also discussed the latest technologies and treatment advancements available in India and stressed the importance of a patient-centric and multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care.

In the second session, Dr. Ankit Singh, Consultant Neurologist at Medanta Hospital, delivered a detailed lecture on “Thrombolysis in Stroke”, addressing the critical need for timely intervention in stroke management.
> “Stroke is a medical emergency where every minute counts,” Dr. Singh noted. He explained the thrombolysis technique, its clinical timeline, scientific basis, and the latest treatment guidelines with clarity and relevance.
The session shed light on the concept of “Time is Brain,” and emphasized how quick action can prevent irreversible brain damage and significantly improve patient outcomes.
